Jangseung Guard
Deep in the night, yokai began to watch the village from beyond the forest. The villagers carved a jangseung — a Korean guardian totem — and five energies settled in it: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Now the totem stands in the middle of the village and holds off dokkaebi goblins, water ghosts, egg ghosts and the nine-tailed gumiho coming from every side. Pick the talisman that overcomes each wave for double damage, choose a skill between waves, and spend the fortune you earn to make your guardian stronger for good. Start in the pine village and defend the ferry, the market, the mountain fortress and the royal palace.

How to Play
- The totem fights on its own: It attacks yokai that come near. Yokai that reach it cost health; when health runs out the run ends.
- Switch talismans: Tap one of the five talismans to change the totem’s element and weapon. The one that beats the current wave shows ×2; the reverse deals only ×0.5. The next wave’s element is shown in advance.
- Spend coins: Defeated yokai drop coins: buy attack, attack speed, health and regeneration, or tap a skill icon to upgrade that skill alone.
- Pick skills: Between waves choose one of three skill cards. Picking a skill again levels it up, and at max level it awakens. A skill gets +25% when the totem holds the element that feeds it.
- Defend each place: Defeat the wave-30 boss to defend the place and open the next one (the first clear pays triple fortune). After the palace come ever-harder palace tiers without end.
- Fortune and permanent upgrades: Every run pays fortune for how long you held. Spend it on twelve permanent upgrades such as attack, health, coins, critical hits, range and a fourth skill card.
- Mastery and guardians: Skills you use a lot gain mastery that lasts forever. Unlock 5 guardians — the Great General, the Lady General, a stone totem, a sotdae bird pole and a seaside beoksu — each with its own element and ability.
- Yokai Hunt: A second mode opens after a few runs: defeat one element-shifting boss within 60 seconds, 3 tries a day. Every 4 levels pays a relic with a permanent effect (11 in all).
- Bestiary, Daily Waves and tasks: Defeating yokai fills bestiary seals that raise all damage. Every day brings the Daily Waves (same yokai in the same order for everyone, fortune ×2), a visit reward, three requests and achievements.
FAQ
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. It runs in your phone or PC browser, and progress is saved in that browser.
- How long is a run?
- Usually 5 to 9 minutes. Defeat the wave-30 boss to defend the place, then carry on into endless waves or head back.
- Does it grow while closed?
- Yes. While you are away the totem patrols and earns fortune based on your recent runs: up to 4 hours at first and up to 14 hours with upgrades and relics.
- Is it scary or violent?
- No. The yokai are cute takes on Korean folk-tale creatures, and they vanish in a puff of smoke without blood. You never fight people.
- Is there any payment?
- The web version has no payments and no in-game ads. On portals with ads you can choose to watch an ad for a bonus (double patrol fortune, double run fortune, a skill reroll…); the game plays the same without them.
- Who made the art?
- The yokai, totems, skills, relics, backdrops and story panels were made with generative AI (Google Gemini) and picked and refined by our Js.
- Which languages does the game support?
- 12 languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese. It follows your browser language and can be switched in the settings.
