Hanpan Gomoku & Janggi
No ads ever cut into a game here. On this site you play from the first stone to the last with no ads during the game, at its start or while loading. Climb a ladder of 10 AI opponents in gomoku and 10 in janggi (Korean chess), solve one puzzle a day, play a friend on the same phone, and choose the rules you grew up with.

AI ladder
20 opponents wait on a map, 10 per game. Beat one to unlock the next. Winning earns the first star; each opponent has its own two extra star goals, such as winning without undo, winning as White or finishing within a set number of moves: 60 stars in all.
Daily puzzle
Every day brings one gomoku puzzle (make five within n moves) and one janggi puzzle (checkmate within n moves). Each game has 120 puzzles, and every one was checked by the engine to have a single solution. Difficulty rises through the week, and a solving streak pays bonus coins on days 3, 7, 14 and 30.
Two players, one device
Sit across from a friend with one phone or tablet. Undo is unlimited in two-player games.
Your rules
Gomoku: 3 rule sets — free, no 3-3 (default) and renju without opening rules — with forbidden points marked ✕ and blocked. Janggi: all 4 starting setups, bikjang on or off, move limits of 100, 150, 200 or none, passing, the repetition ban and scoring with Han's 1.5-point komi.
Board styles, no loot boxes
28 boards, piece sets and stone sets, 4 free from the start. The other 24 cost a fixed number of coins earned in play. No random draws, and the web version has no payments.

FAQ
- Are there ads?
- The web version on this site shows no ads during a game, at its start or on loading screens, and right now it has no in-game ads at all. If ads are added later, they will only come after a game ends or as optional bonuses you choose to watch.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. It runs in your phone or PC browser, and your coins, stars and styles are saved in that browser.
- What is janggi?
- Janggi is Korean chess, played on the intersections of a 9×10 board. Win by checkmating the opposing general; if no one does, the remaining pieces are scored and Han gets 1.5 extra points, so there are no draws.
- Which languages does the game support?
- 12 languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese. It follows your browser language and can be switched in the settings.
- Who made the art and sound?
- The boards, pieces, stones, icons and covers were drawn in code by our Js. The 20 opponent portraits were made with generative AI (Gemini), then picked and touched up by our Js. Fonts are Noto Serif KR, Yuji Syuku and Dokdo (SIL Open Font License); sound effects are adapted from Kenney’s CC0 packs and the music is synthesized in code.
